Pelvic Prolapse

In the pelvis, ligaments and connective tissue hold the pelvic organs—the vagina, bladder, rectum, and uterine tubes place. The physical strain of pregnancy and childbirth, as well as tissue thinning brought on by conditions like menopause and mild constipation, can cause the vaginal walls to collapse. When this happens, the bladder, rectum, uterine tubes pelvic organs behind the genital tract are down with it.

Symptoms

Treatment is usually not necessary in cases when changes in pelvic support are minor and go undiagnosed. However, more serious pelvic floor weakness may result in a lower quality of life or ongoing discomfort. Pelvic prolapse symptoms include :

  • The feeling of pressure in the rectum or vagina.
  • Vaginal swelling that can be seen inside or outside.
  • Difficulty starting or finishing bowel or urine movements.
  • Vaginal discomfort.
